Some women say that if their husbands love them like Christ loves the church, then submission would be their natural response. But, regardless of the husband’s love or lack thereof, the wife is commanded to submit “as to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:22). This means that her obedience to God will result in her submission to her husband.
Women who believe their husbands have to believe in the Word of God in order to submit to them are not being accountable for their own Godly behaviors. Our obedience is not dictated by another’s behaviors.
God will hold their husbands accountable for their lack of obedience.
Many women fail to understand that when we use our faith, and trust in the Lord, that we are given the grace to submit to our husbands as a position of high honor and respect, (Ephesians 5:33).
Women who refuse to submit to their husband’s higher authority, have willfully chosen rebellious behavior against them because their husbands have fallen short of the glory of God. But, the Bible clearly states that women will have the most influence when they submit to their own husbands so that, if they do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives.
Godly women know that their adorning should not be external – by the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing they wear. Instead, the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, with the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight (1 Peter 3:1-5).
A wise woman does not wait around until her husband behaves the way that she believes he should; for she knows that one day she will stand before the Lord to give an account for how she treated her husband, not how he treated her.
